There is a difference in how many diaper changes a newborn baby and an older child need.
Newborn:
A newborn baby can easily have up to 10-15 diaper changes a day, so it takes a lot of diapers to get the washing and drying to run around. We recommend about 27 Natural Newborn cloth diapers for the newborn baby if you are going to use fabric full-time.
Full-time:

Part-time:
If you choose to use cloth diapers part-time, you must get a smaller number. Part-time can be, for example, using cloth diapers during the day and disposable diapers at night or at home, and not in daycare or on a trip. You can also just use cloth diapers when the surplus is just right. It is a very good solution for many cloth diaper users. You can start by buying maybe 5 diapers and slowly get up to 10-15 diapers, which is a suitable number for part-time.
The more diapers, the less wear:
If you choose to have a small number of diapers, you should expect them to wear out much faster than if you have many diapers in rotation. Use and washing wear down the diapers, so it is not necessarily worth buying a small number of diapers.

Modern cloth diapers should not make you stressed or give you a bad conscience if you do not have the energy to use them. You must have the desire and it must give you value and energy. There is no right or wrong here – you set your own rules and what suits you and your family best.
