Inserts for your brand new cloth diapers must be washed before they get maximum absorbency. That’s the way it is with natural materials. You probably know it from new towels and tea towels that don’t absorb so well at first.
Bamboo contains natural oil that must be washed out before it absorbs optimally. This can be done by soaking the inserts overnight in cold water. Then wash the diapers on a short or normal wash at 30 degrees and then put them to use. Expect to change the diaper frequently in the beginning until the pads have been washed about 8 times.
The inserts can be expected to creep a bit after washing due to the natural fibers. You can advantageously stretch them in wet mode to the maximum.
